Allison Dickerman founded her vintage shop Allison’s Archive in 2022, capitalizing on booming interest in pre-owned and archival fashion.
Dickerman pivoted from a marketing role into vintage as a “natural” alignment of her personal passion with the accelerating resale industry. The global secondhand market is projected to reach $350 billion by 2027 per ThredUp.
Targeting nostalgic 90s and 2000s fashion, Allison’s Archive intersects with the revival of Y2K styles among Gen Z. Dickerman sources coveted designer pieces opportunistically through sellers, auctions and collectors.
Despite competition from large resale platforms, smaller vintage curators like Allison’s Archive thrive via social media and personalized service. Dickerman prices competitively but focuses on rare, one-of-a-kind finds.
Upcoming, Dickerman plans to open an appointment-only Brooklyn showroom, enabling in-person browsing beyond e-commerce. As she says, “We have our own curatorial eyes, and all I can hope is [customers] appreciate my vision.”
For Dickerman, vintage offsets fast fashion and allows investment in special items. As consumers increasingly value sustainability, Allison’s Archive represents the growing resale wave – and Dickerman’s role as a tastemaker within it.
