A Thai TV host was left scarred after receiving a botched laser treatment at a popular beauty clinic. The unnamed host, referred to as Am, suffered severe burns on her face following the procedure on September 3.
The treatment was performed by a new employee who apparently adjusted the laser equipment incorrectly. Am reported feeling intense heat during the procedure that did not stop even when it was over. Despite her obvious distress, the clinic only provided steroid cream and no immediate cooling treatment.
Am went to the police to report the incident right away. The clinic admitted fault and promised full compensation, but as of September 22 Am had not received any reimbursement for her expenses or an apology from management.
So far Am has spent over 32,000 baht (approx. $900 USD) on corrective treatments to repair the damage. The botched procedure also forced her to cancel a planned diving trip because sun exposure could worsen her skin.
While her condition has improved with treatment elsewhere, Am still deals with pigmentation issues and light sensitivity. She hopes to return to work next month but says the ordeal has been extremely stressful.
Am is sharing her story as a warning about the risks of beauty procedures and urging people to ensure certified doctors perform them. She may take legal action if the clinic continues delaying compensation.
