We all want to look youthful, but anti-aging skincare can be confusing. I spoke with skincare expert Emma Coleman, a dermatology and aesthetic nurse practitioner, to get her top tips on fighting fine lines while avoiding mistakes that can damage skin.
Emma recommends using SPF moisturizer during the day and retinol at night as the two most effective anti-aging products.
“Sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 blocks harmful UVA/UVB rays to prevent age spots, pigmentation, and moles,” she explains. She suggests Olay’s range of SPF moisturizers with active ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C. For higher SPF, she recommends Coco and Eve’s SPF50 Daily Sunscreen Primer.
For night, introduce a retinol slowly, starting with 1-2 times per week and building up over 2 weeks. “Serums with low molecular weight absorb quickly for anti-aging benefits,” says Emma. Try Corsx Retinol 0.1 for beginners and PerriconeMD High Potency Retinol for regular users.
But beware overusing retinol, which can cause burns, rashes, or pigmentation needing treatment.
When applying creams, always massage upward with circular motions. Devices like the Magnitone Face Rocket boost absorption. Avoid pulling skin downward or rubbing horizontally.
Monthly facials also help, along with avoiding one key mistake – skipping sunscreen! Daily SPF and strategic retinol are Emma’s top anti-aging tips for fighting fine lines and staying youthful.
