A Platform for Awareness and Sustainability
“It’s such an honor to represent Alabama. We just have the kindest people and to represent the state on a national level…honor is the best word,” Seymour expressed, beaming with pride. Her participation in the competition serves a dual purpose: raising awareness about food allergies and promoting sustainability.
Food allergy awareness is a cause close to Seymour’s heart, as her two-year-old son suffers from food allergies. This personal connection, coupled with a desire for self-investment, propelled her into the world of pageantry, a realm she has always admired.
Sustainable Fashion Takes Center Stage
Seymour’s passion for sustainability shines through in her innovative approach to pageant fashion. “I think a pageant queen lost her suitcase and I found it,” she quipped, referring to her entire pageant wardrobe sourced from Unclaimed Baggage. “I’m excited to showcase some of the unique and sustainable fashion finds that I’ve come across at Unclaimed Baggage over the years.”
This eco-friendly approach has garnered support from Unclaimed Baggage itself. Sonni Hood, Senior Manager of PR and Communications, stated, “We are excited to be a part of Hannah’s journey. Our common interests in sustainability and giving back makes this partnership even more special. Our team and the entire Scottsboro community are rooting for Hannah as she makes her debut on the Las Vegas stage.”
Beyond the Pageant: A Message of Responsibility
Seymour’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond her wardrobe choices. She enthusiastically recommends SARE as her favorite online resource for sustainability information, demonstrating her dedication to the cause.
In line with the Mrs. America Pageant’s mission to “advance initiatives, achieve policy changes and amplify education surrounding drug abuse,” Unclaimed Baggage has provided Seymour with a dignitary gift for Victoria’s Voice Foundation. This foundation, established by parents who lost their daughter to drug abuse in 2015, further emphasizes the pageant’s commitment to important social issues.
Looking Ahead
The winner of the Las Vegas competition will go on to compete for the Mrs. World International title in 2025, potentially giving Seymour’s message of sustainability and awareness an even broader platform.
As Hannah Seymour prepares to take the stage in Las Vegas, she carries with her not just the hopes of Alabama, but a powerful message about sustainability, awareness, and the potential for beauty pageants to be a force for positive change. Her innovative approach to pageant fashion serves as an inspiration, proving that one can look stunning while also being environmentally conscious.
