Mueller’s journey is far from a typical pageant story. Growing up surrounded by rodeos, she never saw herself as a pageant contestant. Her initial vision was simple: ride horses and embrace the cowgirl lifestyle. However, life had a different plan for her, especially after experiencing a profound personal loss that would ultimately reshape her path.
During a challenging period of grief, following the loss of her best friend to cancer, Mueller found solace and strength in the rodeo community. What began as a healing process transformed into a remarkable competitive journey. In 2019, she took her first step by competing for the Jackrabbit Stampede Ambassador title, marking the beginning of an extraordinary chapter in her life.
Since then, Mueller has become a powerhouse in the rodeo queen circuit. Her recent achievement of winning Miss Rodeo South Dakota 2024 is a testament to her dedication and skill. This prestigious title has taken her far beyond state borders, with over 30,000 miles traveled in just one year, demonstrating the extensive commitment required of a rodeo queen.
The upcoming Miss Rodeo America competition in Las Vegas represents the pinnacle of her rodeo queen career. Far from being a mere beauty pageant, this nine-day event is a comprehensive test of a contestant’s rodeo knowledge, communication skills, and personal presentation. According to South Dakota’s national director, Cindy Wilk, the competition encompasses personal interviews, horsemanship assessments, impromptu speeches, and a spectacular coronation ceremony.
Mueller’s excitement is palpable as she describes the competition’s diverse challenges. “We get to model sponsor clothes and showcase our personal fashion-forward outfits,” she explains, highlighting the multifaceted nature of the event. Beyond the glamour, the competition offers a unique opportunity for state queens to connect, share experiences, and celebrate their shared passion for rodeo.
At the heart of Mueller’s journey is a powerful personal philosophy: putting faith over fear. Her platform emphasizes the importance of trusting in divine guidance and recognizing one’s inherent talents. “If you let God show you the plan he has for you and help you showcase the talents he’s given you, then you can accomplish anything,” Mueller shares, revealing the spiritual foundation of her remarkable success.
For aspiring rodeo queens and young women facing personal challenges, Mueller’s story offers profound inspiration. Her transformation from a grieving teenager to a confident, accomplished rodeo queen demonstrates the power of resilience, faith, and pursuing one’s passions, regardless of initial self-doubt.
The Miss Rodeo America competition will run from November 30th to December 8th, presenting Mueller with an opportunity to represent South Dakota and showcase the true essence of a modern cowgirl – strength, grace, and an indomitable spirit.
