Helmut Lang’s debut SS24 show spearheaded by creative director Peter Do kicked off New York Fashion Week with ’90s-inspired edge. Accordingly, makeup artist Daniel Sallstrom and hairstylist Jawara Wauchope crafted beauty looks with sleekness and grit.
Jawara pulled inspiration from the bustling streets of New York City to style models’ hair. Using Dyson tools and Bumble and Bumble products, he created gel-slicked styles and perfectly shaped afros that exuded “cool, beautiful, chic” hair. The greasy, gritty textures added urban edge.
Sallstrom complemented with dramatic graphic liners in bright hues applied with MAC Chromaline cream liners and acrylics. The blunt, straight shape was razor sharp, as if “cut with a knife.”
Jawara’s diverse hair looks offer inspiration for fashion week and beyond. Embrace the urban edge with slicked styles, flawless afros, and bold colorful makeup.
