The conclusion of haute couture week in Paris witnessed a spectacular shift in the fashion world’s focus to the picturesque village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, nestled in the Maritime Alps of southern France. Simon Porte Jacquemus chose the Maeght Foundation, just a few kilometers from Nice, as the backdrop for his 2024 collection, “Les Sculptures,” attracting high-profile figures like Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Vittoria Ceretti, and Deva Cassel to grace the platform set amid masterpieces by Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Alexander Calder, and Alberto Giacometti.
The collection featured 47 striking looks for both women and men, highlighting leather dresses with rounded shoulders and sleeves that elegantly curved outward. Models showcased luxurious, fluffy hair with wavy or curly styles, and the color palette focused on white, red, and cream. Accessories played a pivotal role, with attention-grabbing pieces like the Le Petit Calino mini bag and Les Lunettes Ovalo sunglasses.
Known as the golden boy of French fashion, Jacquemus made a bold move by enlisting Kristin Davis, the iconic Charlotte York from Sex and the City, to announce the fashion show on social media. The teaser, which went viral, depicted Davis receiving a cream-colored box with the brand’s name, unveiling a gray V-neck pullover – not just a sweater, but a “sweater to put on your shoulders,” as emphasized in the voiceover. The unique collaboration with historic footwear brand Repetto was also unveiled, showcasing a modern reinterpretation of the legendary “Zizi” model.
Front row attendees at the prestigious art gallery included stars such as Julia Roberts, Jack Harlow, PinkPantheress, Aron Piper from Elite, Luka Sabbat from Grown-ish, editor Edward Enninful, model Bianca Balti, and Kylie Jenner with her daughter, Stormi – a power-packed audience that had also graced the Paris scene at the Valentino couture show.
