Following its thought-provoking Fall/Winter 2024 showcase in Paris, Balenciaga returns with its Summer 2024 campaign, captured through the lens of fine art photographer Jitka Hanzlová.
The campaign features a diverse cast including Demna’s mother, Ella, and his husband, musician BFRND, alongside other notable personalities such as designer Linda Loppa, artist Eliza Douglas, and actress Renata Litvinova. Balenciaga’s runway models also make appearances, embodying the brand’s distinct aesthetic.
Mirroring the trompe-l’oeil elements of its accessories, the Summer 2024 campaign employs seamless backdrops portraying opulent home interiors, blurring the lines between reality and illusion. According to the brand, these images challenge conventional notions of luxury, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between the depicted spaces and the individuals within them.
Further deconstructing the illusion, Balenciaga presents a series of videos accompanying the campaign, revealing the setup and offering insight into the perspective shift from model to backdrop. These videos are currently available on Balenciaga’s Instagram Stories, providing an immersive experience for viewers.
