Fashion has long been synonymous with glamour and sophistication, captivating audiences with its spectacle of impeccably dressed models strutting down the runway amidst flashing lights and thunderous applause. However, amidst this glamour, Jaipur hosts a unique fashion extravaganza that redefines beauty and inclusivity.
For the past three years, Jaipur has been the stage for a fashion revolution led by Ritu Umesh Aggarwal, fondly known as “Ritu.” As the CSR Director of CREDAI Rajasthan, Ritu is committed to empowering marginalized communities, particularly the differently-abled.
Ritu’s fashion show provides a platform for disabled individuals to shine, fostering confidence and integration into mainstream society. She emphasizes inclusivity, aiming to eradicate any sense of inferiority complex among participants and showcase their equality.
Ritu’s journey into social service was shaped by personal tragedy. Inspired by a fashion show for the disabled in Delhi, she organized Jaipur’s first-ever fashion show for the disabled in 2021, overcoming financial constraints and garnering overwhelming support.
Since then, the fashion show has grown exponentially, attracting participants from across the country. It celebrates diversity and shatters stereotypes, instilling pride and self-worth in participants.
At its core, Ritu’s initiative promotes inclusivity and acceptance, empowering women and fostering connections within the disabled community. She aims to create employment opportunities for the disabled, effecting meaningful change beyond the runway.
