Michigan State University’s student-run fashion magazine, N Crowd, brought together creativity and social consciousness in its third annual spring fashion show held at Demonstration Hall on Saturday night.
The theme of this year’s show, “School Kids Aesthetic,” showcased street-styled clothing from over 15 students and local designers, blending fashion with messages of social justice and individual expression.
The event began with a warm welcome from N Crowd co-founder Brandon Williams, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support as tickets sold out within a day. The excitement continued as apparel and textile junior Brendan Sims kicked off the show with a captivating performance of his song “Fiendz,” setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.
Featured designs ranged from grunge streetwear by Sims’ brand, Seis Pandemonium, to thought-provoking pieces by Detroit designer Youana Azer. Azer’s line, “Cairo’s Creative,” made a bold statement with patchwork featuring messages of solidarity, including “Free Palestine,” highlighting the intersection of fashion and activism.
The show also featured crochet clothing couture by brands like Vincitcia and Tse Crochet, demonstrating the diversity of talent within the student fashion community.
N Crowd President Damond Hardwick emphasized the importance of collaboration and diversity in the creative process, reflecting on the significance of showcasing Black designers and fostering a supportive environment for all students.
From the runway debut of emerging designers to powerful performances celebrating individuality, N Crowd’s spring fashion show was a celebration of creativity, activism, and community.
