Danish fashion brand Selected Femme has partnered with material science company Ambercycle to launch a sustainable summer dress made using recycled polyester.
The limited-edition dress incorporates Ambercycle’s patented Cycora regenerated polyester material, crafted from post-consumer textile waste and industrial scrap. Unlike conventional virgin polyester derived from fossil fuels, Cycora offers a renewable polyester alternative.
Selected Femme’s new dress is made from a blend of 50 percent Cycora regenerated polyester and 50 percent recycled polyester. The use of Cycora helps reduce waste and dependence on virgin resources.
Parent company Bestseller aims to increase the use of recycled materials across its brands. The Selected Femme dress marks an important step in showcasing emerging recycled textiles like Cycora polyester.
Consumers can purchase the limited-edition printed Cycora dress online through Selected Femme’s website and in select brick-and-mortar stores in Denmark.
As fashion brands face pressure to improve sustainability, material innovations such as Cycora offer solutions to better resource efficiency. Partnerships between brands and recycling technologies can help scale closed-loop textile production.
